Flythrough of my real-time UE4 environment. Created with 3DS Max, Substance Painter, ZBrush. Now in 4k.
The iconic nightclub scene shown in the original Terminator - accurately recreated as a game environment in Unreal Engine.
My aim was to stay as faithful to the original scene as I could, given the fast edits and tight camera shots this was quite a task but I’m pretty comfortable modelling things by eye which helped. After studying the scene in detail I broke down the various props and modular elements required, then blocked out the basic layout in 3D. After creating detailed versions of the modular elements and rebuilding the layout, I began to model/incorporate the various props used in the original scene. I sourced multiple references for each prop (in addition to the film footage) to ensure they were authentic 3D counterparts and as 1980’s as possible - due to the fast camera shots it was hard to pick out every exact prop/detail but I’m confident I got pretty much all of the ones used in the original scene. Plus the various environmental details that occur as the scene plays out i.e. bullet holes, broken glass, knocked over chairs etc.
Created in Max, ZBrush, Substance, Marmoset and Unreal Engine 4. Most of what you see I made from scratch - minus some background props like the liquor bottles (behind bar), neighbouring shop fronts/street and car which were taken from the marketplace. I also used a bunch of decals for floor & wall details: broken glass, grunge, bullet holes, wall damage, blood etc.
